Measure 26-213: Parks tax

No

This operating levy would increase property taxes to pay for Stabtown parks programs. The median residential homeowner would pay $151 per year. Campers in tents and shanties are not considered homeowners for that calculation.

We so wanted to endorse this one. All the city had to do was include in its pitch that some of the money would go toward clearing out the dangerous camps that make so many city parks unusable by most people. If the city had promised to clear Laurelhurst, Madrona, Lents and all the other parks overrun by stabbers, we’d have bene all for this. It didn’t, so we’re not. Vote no and tell the city to clean up the parks first.
